First Project - Infinity Scarf

I have been wanting to make an infinity scarf for a long time, and it isn't supposed to be hard. I had a hard day at work and decided to bring my sewing machine to the coffee table and watch some TV.

I found my tutorial from Pinterest for the 5 minute scarf. I did learn a few things:

  • No matter how cute the fabric is, purchase knit fabric that has some stretch too it. It prevents it from sticking up too much or being stiff.
  • Sewing the edges can take more fabric than you think if you are new, so cut the fabric longer than you think you need. You can always trim it later.

I cut my fabric 22" wide, but I think next time I will cut it skinnier and longer.

Sew the cut edges together long ways wrong side out. After that is completed, turn it right side out and stitch one end. Put the scarf on and see if you like the length. Once you are happy, sew the 2 ends together and you are good to go.

My Purpose for this Blog

My name is Rachel Mooney, and I have been married for almost 5 years. Through the few weeks, I have been a part of a great small group at church and have been also reading a book called Love & Respect.

My husband and I both desire to have a marriage that looks different from many people that we know. We believe more in the traditional roles, and I desire to be a wife that "doesn't wear the pants." God calls people's marriages to be an example of our relationship with Christ. As the Love & Respect book says, pretend the husband is Christ and the wife is the church.

With this being said, I realized I had been putting my work and studying for work too high of a priority. I was called to be a wife and be there for my husband, not zoned into my career and future. God placed this on my heart, and I have been making an intentional effort to change this. Part of this is to shift my focus to being more of a domestic wife and start doing more cooking and cleaning.

This blog will tell about my journey and give some accountability that I stay on the right path. Feel free to love your comments or suggestions.

God bless you.
